Friends of Music at Emanuel is a non-profit organization founded in 2011 to bring a highly artistic chamber music series to Emanuel Lutheran Church for the benefit of the Manchester/Greater Hartford community.
For generations, Emanuel has been known in the area as “the singing church,” a name that reflects both the wonderful resonance of the church’s acoustics and a lively music-making tradition. The Friends of Music at Emanuel chamber music series,builds on this great tradition by showcasing the finest musicians in the area and from around the world in a free concert series at Emanuel Lutheran Church of Manchester.
Emanuel’s acoustics are the perfect backdrop for a remarkable instrument collection, which includes a beautifully restored 1893 Steinway “D” concert grand, David Jacques Ways harpsichord, and Casavant pipe organ. Musicians and concert-goers alike have acclaimed Emanuel as a premiere destination for chamber music.
All concerts are completely free to the public, and supported by the generous donations of music lovers. To make a tax-deductible donation to the Friends of Music at Emanuel, please write out a check to Emanuel Lutheran Church with “FME” in the memo line and mail it to the church address. Your donation will be used solely for the benefit of the concert series.
We are a women’s a cappella group which rehearses in Manchester and has performed throughout Southern New England.
Formed in 1960, Little Theatre of Manchester is an all volunteer theater company producing five mainstage productions each year, along with free play readings and the LTM Lunchtime Lecture series. Volunteers are always welcome and training is provided in all categories of theater arts. Casting is open to all, based on the qualities prescribed by the director of each show. LTM is located at historic Cheney Hall, and 1867 Federally designated historic site.
The Manchester Pipe Band is a competition focused bagpipe band based in Manchester Connecticut, USA. The band was founded in 1914 making it one of the oldest bagpipe bands in the nation. Our objective then, and the tradition we carry on today, is to perform traditional and contemporary bagpipe music at a high level.
The band draws bagpipers and drummers from throughout the Northeast whose main focus is preparation for and competition against other bagpipe bands. Under the auspices of the EUSPBA the band currently competes in Grade 3 throughout the eastern US & Canada. In addition to preparing current players the band has an active program of instruction for people interested in learning to play. The Manchester Pipe Band also performs at a variety of parades, graduations, and functions as well as public and private performances throughout the year in order to support our competition & instruction activities. The band is organized as a 501(c)3 non-profit – contact the Band President for more information about hiring the band for your event.
An all-arts program for young adults ages 15 to 25 where studio space, supplies, mentoring and support are offered to those interested in fine art, photography, pottery, poetry, drama, music, wood art and more.
